It is often said that beauty queens want to save the world.
I'm pleased to introduce you to one that's well on her way.
Since becoming Ms. World 2007, have you competed in any
other pageants?
No, I have been focusing on my platform , "Domestic
Violence Awareness - Keeping Women and Children Safe at Home" ,
and creating a life I love living. I feel that it was a great
privilege to represent the title of Ms. World. I feel very
fulfilled and ready to move forward. It was truly life changing.
Have you done any public speaking for abused women and children?
Yes, I traveled to Greece early last year where I was a guest
of honor on a major television station live broadcast.
We discussed the need for the help of others in bringing
resources to those being abused and how that could be done.
I also visited the Navajo Nation as a guest of honor to
speak out for the abused.
Have you done any professional modeling?
Yes. The photo shoot for SU was so much fun and the most
memorable! The professionals I worked with are some of
the most awesome people in the industry.
Being a makeup artist, can you give us girls any tips we
might not know about?
My newest and most surprisinq beauty tip comes from a TV
infomercial. Have any of you heard of the product called
Smooth Away? It claims to remove hair painlessly and effortlessly.
I didn't think this was possible but it really works. I have
very sensitive skin so I was willing to try anything. I will
say, however, it takes some time and yes, effort... but not
much. It is great for facial hair.
You seem like you would make a pretty cool mom. How are
your children doing?
Thank you. They are incredible. My son is very handsome young
man, working on his modeling, and is soon to be a heartbreaking
teenager. He recently applied to a school for the gifted
and talented and was accepted! My daughter, on the other
hand, is really becoming a beautiful, strong and unique young
lady. She is a firecracker who is learning to grow into that
big presence of hers.
Does your daughter have any interest in competing in pageants
one day?
Angelina, my daughter, recently decided to ask if she could
compete in Dream Girls USA. She is currently the proud, reigning
Jr. Miss South Dakota. It has been a wonderful learning and
personal growth tool for my shy princess.
Have you done any volunteer work in your community?
In my community, I serve as an ambassador to women in need
of advocacy while going through the wonderful yet hard
changes that take place in an abuse victim when they finally
learn to live above the 'perpetual victim' stage of existence
and choose to become a true 'over-comer'. As a fellow abuse
'over-comer', I am very passionate about the need to move
forward in healing.
Can you tell us about Butterfly Kisses?
Butterfly Kisses is a makeover consulting firm in its infancy
with cosmetic, skincare, wardrobe and accessory sales,
that offers a complete line of services to help facilitate
the total makeover. We focus on the complete transformation
of a client and personal growth. We work with all ages,
shapes and sizes. Our clients have multitude of goal outcomes
such as weight loss, pageant coaching and cosmetic transformations,
to name a few. I am an independently certified image, skincare
and cosmetic consultant. We partner with some of the most
sought after professionals in their respected fields.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to spend time with those close to my heart, take hot
baths, find peace in the little things that bring me joy,
travel and find ways to continue feeling young.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
I feel my greatest accomplishment is how I have tried to
leave my 'mark' in this world. First, and foremost, I feel
that can be seen in the accomplishments and substance of
my children. They are my legacy and will carry on the values
I have taught them. Therefore, raising them and being the
best mother I can be is my most important and greatest
accomplishment. I have also been very actively promoting
my platform, " Domestic Violence Awareness",
and I feel the strides made have been large ones. This
greatly impacts others and is worthy of being noted as
a great accomplishment.
